Hessa Al Hammadi Advocates and Legal Consultants obtained a conclusive decision while representing a famous sports personality in a dispute against a sports brokerage company which ran for over two years between the corridors of the Dubai Courts, the Players’ Status Committee of the Football Association, and the Appeals Committee.

A sports brokerage company disagreed with a famous player seeking to obligate him to pay 440 thousand dirhams in exchange for services and legal administrative consultations provided under a contract concluded in 2020. However, the player refused to pay the required amount. Subsequently, the company filed a lawsuit before the civil court in Dubai, which ruled to reject the lawsuit due to lack of jurisdiction. The Court of Appeal upheld the previous ruling.

The mediation company renewed its demand to obligate the player to pay the value of its services by filing a lawsuit this year with the United Arab Emirates Football Association in the Dispute Resolution Chamber of the Players’ Status and Transfers Committee.  According to the case file, the dispute resolution committee rejected the request of the mediation company, the company appealed the ruling again before the committee, which upheld the first-instance ruling.

In its decision, the appeals committee obligated the mediation company to pay the fees and expenses of the case after ruling to reject its appeal.

Hessa Salem Al Hammadi, the player’s defense lawyer, stated that the decision issued by the committee is considered a final and conclusive decision in the case brought by the mediation company. She noted that the preliminary committee of the dispute resolution committee examined the details of the case against the player and ruled to reject the case after it was proven that the company did not play any role in the player’s contract with the club. Despite the mediation company appealing the decision, its appeal was rejected, and the company was obligated to pay fees and expenses, closing the door to the dispute that lasted more than two years between the corridors of the Dubai Courts, the Players’ Status Committee of the Football Association, and the Appeals Committee.
